Keep The Holiday Fires Burning

The Presidential Pardon

Each year at Thanksgiving, the President of the United States exercises his Constitutional power to order pardons and reprieves and spares the life of one of the turkeys slated for a White House meal. The lucky bird then is shipped off to the Frying Pan Park Petting Zoo in Herndon,Virginia.

The tradition of pardoning a Turkey extends back to the presidency of Harry Truman.
